If you have tasted this fish fry before you will surely agree that this is one of the most addictive snacks in Kolkata! Follow my recipe and recreate that awesomeness in your kitchen 😊

  1. This preparation is most commonly done with Bhetki fish but you can use any white flaky fish like catfish, tilapia, cod etc
  2. I used 5 filets of cod (~4 cm long and ~1cm thick)
  3. Start by pressing lime juice in the filets followed by sprinkling salt and pepper
  4. Grind the following to a fine paste: Onions, ginger, garlic, green chillies, coriander leaves and mint leaves
  5. Apply the paste on the filets, cover it and let it marinate in the refrigerator for atleast 30 min
  6. Breading the fish

  7. To 1 cup of all purpose flour add garam masala, 1/2 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp. of powdered black pepper. Mix evenly
  8. In another flat bowl, beat 2-3 eggs with 1/2 tsp. of salt and keep it aside
  9. Coat the filets with the all purpose flour
  10. Double dip the filets in the egg wash and bread crumbs (refer to my video to see how to achieve this in a mess-free manner :))
  11. Refrigerate the filets for 10 min
  12. Deep fry the filets in oil until golden brown and crisp
  13. Finish by sprinkling chaat masala and Amchur powder

Notes

  • This is most commonly eaten with mustard sauce or tomato ketchup!
