Secret to Crispy Healthy Baked Chicken Fingers

Who doesn’t like deep fried chicken fingers/tenders/nuggets right?! Especially kids love them! But the fact is that they are not that healthy for you..:( Here, I am going show you how to make healthy, baked, crispy chicken fingers, that are as addictive as the deep fried ones! Yes! Let’s enjoy our favorite snack, guilt-free!


    Marinating the chicken

  • Seasoning bread crumbs


  1. Add white vinegar (~1/2 tbsp) to the chicken. Mix well. Vinegar tenderizes the meat
  2. Add powdered black pepper (1/4 tsp.)
  3. Add 1 tsp. of garlic powder. You can add garlic paste as well.
  4. Add paprika powder (1/4 tsp.). I am using smoked paprika
  5. Add low-sodium soy sauce (1 tbsp.)
  6. If you’re using high sodium soy sauce 1/2 tbsp. should be enough
  7. Add tomato ketchup (1/2 tbsp.)You can use red chilli sauce if you wish.
  8. Give it a good mix
  9. Next, add in ~2 tbsp of milk.The milk and vinegar combines to form buttermilk and helps tenderize the chicken
  10. Let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes
  11. Add salt to taste
  12. Beat one egg and add it in
  13. Coat chicken pieces with the egg
  14. Add 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour and coat everything well
  15. Add 1 tbsp. of any neutral cooking oil and mix everything well
  16. I am using 1.5 cups of plain breadcrumbs Add 1/4 tsp. of powdered black pepper
  17. Add 1/2 tsp. of salt
  18. Add 1/4 tsp. of paprika powder
  19. Add 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
  20. Add 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder. Baking powder helps make the coating nice and crisp
  21. Make sure all the ingredients are mixed evenly
  22. Another important tip to make the breading nice and crisp, is to add oil to the breadcrumbs
  23. Add ~2 tbsp. of oil.
  24. Make sure to mix the oil with the breadcrumbs really well!
  25. Use a sheet pan with a wire rack on it.If you don’t have a wire rack, you can line the pan with parchment paper
  26. Make sure to oil the wire rack so that the pieces don’t stick to it. If you aren’t using a wire rack, make sure that you turn the chicken pieces once during baking so both sides cook evenly
  27. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes till they turn golden brown and crisp
