How to make Lemon Rice

Lemon Rice is a flavorful rice most popular in southern India. Pre-cooked rice is tossed with lime juice, nuts, and other spices and ends up tasting vibrant and delicious



  1. Cook rice in excess water and drain the water so the rice turns out nice and fluffy. Let the rice cool down 
  2. Add 3 tbsp. Oil to a pan set on medium heat
  3. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, black gram, bengal gram, peanuts, and cashew nuts
  4. Stir fry till the cashew nuts turn golden brown or peanuts shells start to crack
  5. Add dried red chillies, green chillies and curry leaves
  6. Give it a quick stir
  7. Add lime juice, Hing, crushed ginger, salt and turmeric powder 
  8. Let the lime juice simmer for a minute 
  9. Add precooked rice and mix well
  10. Add more salt or lime juice if needed
  11. Add some curry leaves (cut in small pieces) for extra flavor
  12. Add chopped coriander leaves and ghee
