How to make Bengali Chicken Curry using a pressure cooker

Here I am sharing my mom’s recipe for bengali chicken curry with potatoes. We will make it quickly in a pressure cooker. This is a delicious recipe that makes me nostalgic.

- Use chicken (with bone) for this recipe
- Make fresh ginger garlic paste (with equal parts of ginger and garlic)
- Marinate the chicken with yogurt, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt and ginger garlic paste
- Let the chicken marinate for 30 min at least
- In a pressure cooker add mustard oil
- Stir fry the potatoes till they are golden brown and set aside
- Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, cloves and cardamoms
- Add onion, sugar and stir fry till golden brown
- Turn down the heat, add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and kashmiri red chilli powder
- Give it a quick stir
- Add tomato pieces and stir fry until it becomes soft and oily
- Add chicken pieces and stir fry for 5-10 min or till it looks oily
- Add potato pieces and slit green chillies
- Stir
- Add 2 cups of water and salt to taste
- Pressure cook for 1 whistle or under pressure for 5 min
- Let the pressure release naturally
- Add salt and sugar to taste
- Add garam masala powder
- Garnish with coriander leaves
