In this video I compared 3 different methods we can use to cook tandoori fish in our kitchens at home! Pan Fried, Air fried and Baked in a conventional oven. I ranked them for taste and texture! What is the best way to cook Tandoori Fish at home – Fry in a Pan, Fry in an Air Fryer or Oven Bake?

Tandoori Fish is a very popular and delicious appetizer. Here I compare 3 techniques for cooking tandoori fish at home! Select the one that suits you best!

Ingredients

    Marinade

Instructions

  1. I am using 6 pieces of Salmon, you can use any fish of your choice
  2. Sprinkle them with some salt and fresh lime juice
  3. Coat with the marinade
  4. Smoke with a burning charcoal (by drizzling some ghee) for 20-30 min (check the video recipe for details)
  5. Pan Frying

  6. Add some oil and butter on a pan set on medium/high heat
  7. Fry the fish for 3-4 min on both sides and baste with butter from time to time
  8. Keep it covered for 5 min before eating so it stays moist
  9. Air Frying

  10. Coat the air fryer basket with tin foil
  11. Grease the tin foil with some oil
  12. Air fry for 9-11 min or till done at 350 degrees F or 180 degrees C
  13. Oven Baked

  14. Preheat oven at 350 degrees F or 180 degrees C
  15. Coat a baking pan with tin foil
  16. Grease the tin foil with some oil
  17. Bake for 9-11 min or till done
  18. Comparison

  19. The pan fried fish was the most tasty. The reason is probably due to the toasting of spices in the marinade. The pan fried fish was moist as well. The Air fried fish had a nice smoky flavor but was a little dry. The baked fish was the most moist in texture and tasted great too!

Notes

  • Honestly the marinade is so tasty that no matter what cooking method you choose, the output will be delicious.
  • Also, the comparisons I made were under the conditions that I used, there are obviously ways by which different results can be obtained using the different methods, if the technique was altered. For example, adding butter to the oven baked one could make it tastier or encasing the fish in a tin foil and then air frying it could make it more moist etc
